Our semi-fancy rooftop dinner turned into a first-rate debacle two nights ago — both dad and I came down with food poisoning after ordering the same shredded beef dish, and we’ve been sleeping 12+ hours/night to recover since then. (Details of our illness will be spared for the sake of anyone reading this blog.)
After dinner, we felt decent enough to go to Ha Long Bay in the morning, where we had booked a 2 day/1 night cruise. Unfortunately, we weren’t doing well for much of the afternoon, and spent the day in bed. On the bright side, the boat was geared toward westerners, so we had access to bland foods (i.e. bread, soup, and tea) that worked well for our stomachs. More importantly, we were still able to enjoy a bit of the bay the following morning, and the sights were stunning. The weather was beautiful, and limestone rock formations dotted the bay at every turn.
Headed to Siem Reap, Cambodia this afternoon. Continuing to recover, and definitely looking forward to Angkor Wat.
